Chapter 1 of 7

A World Unravelling

Hieronymus Bosch painted The Haywain Triptych around 1516 as a moral allegory for humanity. Three hinged panels read left to right: paradise lost, a carnival of greed, the fires of consequence. Every inch swarms with figures pulling, climbing, falling.

Bosch offered not comfort but warning.
